How To Turn Off Outlook Preview
We all know that sometimes, the preview pane in Outlook can get a bit annoying. Whether we are on Windows 10, macOS, or using the Outlook web client, turning off the preview can make our inbox feel less cluttered. Let’s go through the steps.
Windows 10 & Outlook 2013/2016
We can disable the preview pane in a few easy steps:
- Open Outlook.
- Go to the View Tab.
- Locate the Reading Pane option in the Arrangement Group.
- Click the drop-down menu and select Off.
Outlook.com
For those of us using Outlook.com:
- Click on the gear icon to open Settings.
- Go to View all Outlook settings.
- Find the Layout tab.
- Hide the reading pane and Hide preview text by toggling the options.
New Outlook for Windows & Mac
In the latest versions, it’s also a breeze:
- Open the new Outlook for Windows.
- We will find a toggle at the top right of the Outlook window.
- Turn it off to disable previews.
Mail and Calendar App
And if we are on the Mail app in Windows 10:
- Open the app and select Settings (gear icon).
- Navigate to Message list.
- Toggle off the Preview text and Image preview options.
Customizing Multiple Folders
To apply the settings to all mail folders:
- Open Outlook.
- Click View Tab.
- Select Apply View to all mailboxes.
