Finding your Microsoft Teams meeting recordings shouldn’t feel like a wild goose chase. You can locate these recordings in a few key places based on permissions and storage settings. If you’re scratching your head wondering, “Where did that recording go?” this guide will get you headed in the right direction.

Most of the time, these recordings are stored in Microsoft Stream or in the Recordings folder within the app itself. Our team has frequently had to track these down, and we know it can be frustrating. Let’s keep things simple so you can get back to collaborating with your team.
If you’re using an Office 365 or Microsoft 365 subscription, you have access to Microsoft Stream. Clicking on “My Content” and selecting “Meetings” will take you straight to the treasure trove of your recorded meetings. And for those times when someone else records the meeting, just check the meeting chat or the Files tab; it’s bound to be there waiting. Easy peasy!
Where to Find Microsoft Teams Recordings
How do we find those Microsoft Teams recordings? It’s easier than you might think.
After a Teams meeting, the recording is automatically saved. The location can vary based on the type of meeting.
For regular meetings:
- OneDrive: Go to your OneDrive folder labeled “Recordings.”
- Microsoft Stream: Under “My Content,” select “Meetings.” There you’ll find all the recorded meetings.
For channel meetings:
- SharePoint: Recordings are placed in the “Recordings” folder under the Files tab of the channel.
| Meeting Type | Primary Location | Alternative Location |
| Regular Meeting | OneDrive | Microsoft Stream |
| Channel Meeting | SharePoint |
Need to download a meeting recording? Just navigate to the file and click on More options > Download. Keep in mind, only the meeting organizer can usually do this.
Permissions also play a big role. Make sure you have the necessary rights to access, edit, or share these recordings. If anything looks off, you may need some adjustments in the settings.
On mobile apps, accessing recordings can be a bit different. Often, you’ll need to rely on the main Teams app and navigate through your chat history to find the recordings.
For those concerned with compliance recording and data retention, rest assured Teams has you covered. Files remain in the cloud unless you choose to delete them. Deleted recordings head to the recycle bin just in case you need to restore anything.
In our experience, once you know where to look, finding these recordings becomes second nature. Whether you’re in OneDrive, Stream, or SharePoint, your Teams recordings are easily accessible.
