Christy Turlington – Born in 1969

A single image can define an era, and hers did exactly that. Christy Turlington entered the fashion industry after being discovered at 14 in Florida, quickly rising through Ford Models as the supermodel era took shape. The turning point came in 1989 with Calvin Klein’s Eternity campaign. From there, she dominated covers, runways in Paris and Milan, and even appeared in George Michael’s “Freedom! ’90.”
Then the focus shifted. A degree from NYU in 1999 and a Master of Public Health from Columbia reframed her path. After complications during childbirth in 2003, she founded Every Mother Counts in 2010, turning visibility into global health advocacy with lasting impact.
